Carousel and Flying Horses Restored to Former Beauty
Some 26 months after the floodwaters following Katrina sat in the carousel for three weeks, the century-old beauty with its handcarved wooden horses and animals have been restored and the Carousel is operating in time for the Christmas season.
New flooring, new motors, a new organ and a complete refurbishing of the carousel house was done with money from volunteer organization and private donors.
The Carousel is one of only 38 left in the United States.
