Shirley -The Dollmaker on Halloween

Twin Oaks-LaPlace, Louisiana

This is my sister, Shirley, who has been in a Nursing Home for three years because of severe rheumatoid arthritis. I believe she is one of the two people in the Home who has a sharp mind and knows where she is.
For the Halloween party today she masqueraded as the "Dollmaker" and had some of her Halloween dolls attached to her wheelchair for the competition. She handmade her costume and also crocheted pumpkins for everyone to wear. She got second place.
I am always amazed at the spirit with which she goes about her daily routine.
At 88 years old she still has a zest for life--and competition.
Below is a photo in 2005 when she was Queen of Hearts.

What a fine lady, and little doubt she is a Perilloux.
Still got bags of spirit.

Coleen, your sister seems to be absolutely beautiful on both the inside and out!
She certainly seems to have a real zest for life and appears to look very content with her life, what a lovely woman.

While it is sad that she has to be in a LTC facility, she does look like she hasn't let it get her down one bit. A beautiful portrait and costume. And like everyone else, I'm wondering why she didn't get first place.

She has a pixie look about her. Like the Halloween Fairy Godmother come a knocking. She can fill my pillow with candy anytime ;) Nicely captured Colleen... one for the desk frame.
