Bellaire Drive in Lakeview

New Orleans, Louisiana

The wagon in front of an empty, flood damaged house reminds me how children once lived and played in this now deserted neighborhood. The house backs up to the 17th Street Canal floodwall.

Hopefully the change in their lives due to this event will make great leaders one day. I know the depression made a great generation hardworking "role your sleaves up and get it done" group of people.

Of course we all feel sadness for ALL of the victims, but especially for the children whose young lives were disrupted. We understand, our grandchildren lived in Morgan City at the time, and the roof was torn off of their house. So, with school just beginning, they moved back to Scott with us.
