Guardians

Robert E. Lee Shopping Center Still Under Rebuilding

Some 300 members of the 239th Military Police Company of the Louisiana National Guard were sent to New Orleans by Governor Kathleen Blanco to give some relief to the police department. About 85 per cent of the department lived in areas where everything was lost. Many of them have no house to return to and their families are living out of town or out of state. The Guard will patrol the devastated areas of the City 24 hours a day.
This Company has seen duty in Iraq. It was almost 100 degrees in the shade when I took this photo and I can only imagine how hot their uniforms are. God bless them.
While the City is in ruins the Mayor is in Baltimore with the Rev. Jesse Jackson. Drives us crazy, but then, I did not vote for him.

I'll rather see them here than in Iraq
