While shedding their old, dark green leaves the live oaks simultaneously puts on their new light green leaves. That is why they are called Live Oaks, because they never completely go bare as all other oaks.

They appear to be the inspiration for every magical animated forest Mr Disney ever thought of. with those long twisted branches reaching outward :>) A cyclone the strength of Hurricane Katrina is heading toward our northern east coast tonight.
