Notice the Katrina water mark on the porch post and door. The rocker is lonely.
Last night, February 2, five months after Katrina, we had hail, high winds, torrent rain and lightning that made the night look like a sunshiny day. Abraham, my cat, was in my bed and at my face with big eyes and I knew it was bad. We took shelter in the middle of the house. There was lots of damage in our area from tornadoes--at our International Airport and in residential areas. Houses that were just beginning to get cleaned up and restored from Katrina were once more damaged and some that had escaped Katrina were destroyed. At least there will be no question from the stupid insurance companies as to whether "it was wind or water damage."
We had no damage or loss, thank God, just loss of sleep and an hour of terror.
I went out to get photos today and was amused (though it is not funny) by all the Portalets set out for construction crews that are upside down all over town. I remember seeing a Portalet going end over end one time with someone inside. Hopefully, no one was in a Portalet at 2 a.m. today. Happy Ground Hog Day.
