The carousel is to celebrate its 100th birthday next year and is one of seven of its kind left in the United States. The animals are carved wood and the horses' manes and tails are real. It is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Carousel lovers can donate to its restoration.
The carousel building sustained flood water damage and the gorgeous, highly polished wood floor has a film of mud on it. I do not know if the mechanism suffered water damage. The building is still being aired out.
