Anseman Entrance Blocked with Barbed Wire

Entrance from City Park Avenue into the Park is blocked with a fallen palm tree and barbed wire to keep out possible looters' vehicles.
The entire City was under martial law and lock-down for many weeks following Katrina.

After some re-checking, I started coming back to the park in late December. This must have been gone by then. Love all of these photos. They are so familiar to me although I didn't know the names of anything like you do.

I started coming to the Park again in spring of 2006. My nearby office re-opened in late March. This is where I came in. When was the obstacle removed?

As a direct descendant of Victor Anseman, Father of City Park, for which this entrance is named, I hope and pray that I never see barbed wire in front of the entrance. On the day of his funeral, his body entered City Park through this entrance and traveled throughout the park.. After all of his hard work, I'm sure if he had seen this, he would have been devastated.
