Taken in May 2005

New Orleans City Park

Had an early morning meeting nearby and just had to check on the swans. This is the little rough stone bridge that leads to the isolated area where the parents bring the swans. I haven't learned to use the remote or the tripod quite yet.
I found the swans but was 30 seconds too late as they were just getting out of the water. One of the adults has a bloody head so must have been fighting for the babies. There are still five babies and they are growing fast and look healthy. I added a couple of land shots today in my "Swans in New Orleans City Park" gallery.

What a perfect photograph!!!! Really enjoying your work!

This is a very attractive shot. Bravo. I would suggest you set your self timer to 2 or 10 seconds and you can still fire the shutter (with 2 or 10 delay) with your remote and then have time to hide it.

Wow you are an elegant lady Coleen, I feel rather scruffy with my baggy pants that I crawl on the ground with when I'm taking pictures. Great background.
Guest 14-May-2005 01:48
Nice SP! You'll get the remote thing down eventually. Great outfit.

Darn Coleen, You look dang nice for swan searching; I'm lucky if I look that good on a Sunday Morning, let alone picture hunting! Beautiful scenery, and the SP's are nice. The second one is great too, even if you are headless! :~D
Guest 12-May-2005 07:13
Great SP, even the second one, lol! I do like the striking contrast of the black and white against the trees and rocks! :)
Guest 12-May-2005 03:11
You look very nice, and I like your pose. Don't worry I haven't figured out how to rid of the remote thing either.

Not quite jungle gear :)
But then swans are elegant too!
Guest 10-May-2005 20:53
You look very fancy and elegant Colleen.

Coleen, as always you come up with the goods...If the remote bothers you do as Karen S suggests...the timer. However you look like your about to send us all packing by pointing it this way...love it.

Elegant lady in a breathtaking setting. Not a bad 'SP' at all!!
I love the little remote and have all kind of shots with it pointing at the camera :o)
Chris Sofopoulos10-May-2005 10:39
Nice tones and cropping. Nice work.
Karen Stuebing10-May-2005 10:18
Nice SP. Use the timer. :)

I think I'd best just keep my mouth shut. Nah ... Is that a remote in your hand, or are you just glad to see me. Whatta picture!
Guest 10-May-2005 04:49
Very nice. The lighting is perfect.
Monte Stevens10-May-2005 03:29
Yep, that is one nice goose hunting outfit! And, from the serious look on your face those geese best be wary. Your second shot has been some good medicine for me as I've needed the laughter. It is a good SP, well done!
Pepe Zyman10-May-2005 02:58
Very nice SP Coleen. You can use the self timer!
Guest 10-May-2005 02:27
Tom is right. Very Lauren Bacall
I love the second shot too -- made me laugh.
Robin Reid10-May-2005 02:25
You look gorgeous Coleen and not remote at all. LOL. Very nice SP.
The headless one is a hoot. Great way to emphasize those first class legs!
Karen Leaf10-May-2005 02:06
Yikes, I read the title. looked at your pic and thought maybe I need to start dressing just a little better when I go duck or geese hunting :) Fabulous shots Coleen.
Remember one thing about the remote, (mine anyway) sends the signal even if I have it covered up a little. I learned too late.
sschex10-May-2005 01:55
Nice SP.
Guest 10-May-2005 01:10
This is like a Bogart and Bacall movie : )
I love the intrigue and mystery and Coleen you look so stunning ; )
petesie09-May-2005 22:56
Somehow or other you do not look like a swan searcher in this photo.....you look beautiful. Wonderful SP, and glad you got a glimpse and were able to update us.
Susanne09-May-2005 22:48
Coleen you look so beautiful in this photograph. Very nicely taken, even the one with your head off, lol. Truly your best Sp yet I think. Very nice background with your SP.
Elaine (etfitz)09-May-2005 22:44
Wonderful sp!
Di09-May-2005 21:40
Excellent SP, even if it did take a few attempts to get.
Gayle P. Clement09-May-2005 20:08

glamorous photographer at large :) Lovely scenery and lighting as well. Thanks for the update on the swans.
jeanb09-May-2005 19:00
LOL. Now if you could just learn to smile instead of wondering if you are doing it properly, you'll have it made...
