Great White Egret

The mating plume feathers are coming in early this year. Everything is out of wack with Mother Nature ...

I'll say things are out of wack, we had such a warm December, the dog is shedding her winter coat and now for a week the temps have been sub zero.
A beautiful shot of this egret! V.

Crazy weather for us too. I've seen signs of Spring already. This is an absolutely beautiful photo! V+

You know I think we humans are the only ones who find changes to nature hard to accept, all else seem to adapt and until we do we will wring our hands and try to find reasons.
Your egret is probably happy about a mild winter :) V

The birds always seem to know when there's going to be an early spring... lovely image Coleen. v

Love the reflecting light up onto the breast! Great shot Coleen!

Great white shot too. There's just enough shadow in the feathers to show the detail. I also like the clarity of form in the rippled reflection.
That's pretty impressive quality for a 420mm reach too. When my 40D was in regular use I had the 70-200 f/2.8 (non-IS), and my bank account shudders at the thought of having bought one of the ultra-long reach lenses.
