Mother Eagle Teaching her Lone Eaglet to Fly

Only one of her eggs hatched this year. I have followed this nest for three years and there were two eaglets in 2012 and two in 2013.
She was teaching him to fly and when I arrived I did not know he was nearby in a tree. She began swooping down at me and flying around and around. Then, she flew to the branch above the nest and the eaglet followed where it came into a perfect landing in the nest..

The baby looks almost as large as the mother. Wonderful and detailed nature photo.

It must be just as tense as teaching your child to drive!
