The label is just as bright as I'm sure it was over 100 years ago when it was purchased.
My grandmother played her Enrico Caruso records and the Strauss waltzes on this for us.
When I was little, my mother left me for a few days while she helped my sister with her first newborn. My father didn't know what to do with me, so he constantly wound up the Victrola and played the waltzes for three days.
My father's generation (he was born in 1892) did not participate in child care as some of the men do today. I have no doubt in my mind that he did not know how to change a diaper or where to even look for one in the house.
