Fanny Bringier was only 14 years old when she married her French immigrant husband, Christophe Colomb. It was reported that she was an excellent manager and mother and ran the plantation and raised her children well. Her husband, though not too interested in the planter's job, liked to paint and roam the countryside and the waterways.
