Fort Pike Built in 1819

Built to protect New Orleans from invasion by land or by sea.
It had recently reopened to the public after damage from Hurricane Katrina in 2005 but is closed again because of damage from Hurricanes Gustav and Ike in 2008.

Lots of memories there, made many trips out there during the 50's. Looks like this photo was shot from atop the Rigolets bridge !!
