The Gnarled, Ancient Oak of Carville

Carville, Louisiana

This battered, but solid, oak symbolizes to me the trials and tribulations of the patients at the leprosy colony in Carville. Please read the introduction to this gallery.

It is ashame that this Historic place is just rotting away. I went there and I work about 5 miles from there. There is so much that can be learned from this place..... They need help!!!!

It might also symbolize that monster disease, stalking the unlucky. A very powerful image.

It does look a big mangled and yet depicts what those patients must have endured.
