Where are the pictures of Motel D? Have the rooms been updated? Last time I went, I thought the price was ridiculous considering that EVERYTHING looked to be straight from the 70's. Maybe even the mattresses?

Goldston does have a small, private fenced off part of the lake that is just for their customers. How crowded White Lake is depends on what part of the year you go.

I am going for the first time this summer. We have rented a two bedroom apartment. I can not wait.

The GMC Yukon XL in the bottom right of the picture is actually my family's car and that is the first day we arrived and we were signing in. The blue Toyota Camry diagonal from the Yukon isw my aunt's car as she had all ready signed in and arrived before we did.

The Goldston Motel as pictured here has been around a long time...I've seen '60s postcards that look just like it does here, except for the cars.
The putt-putt, restaurant and and bingo are all still there!

Our family used to vacation at White Lake in the 60's. Loved it!!! I remember the ferris wheel, etc. There was also miniature golf. I'd like to find the motel we stayed in back then, if it is still there. In my pictures the sign says "Dreamland Motel" with swimming pool. Why? Don't know. I can also see a Goldston's sign, but it is not the two story in your pictures. It was a one story motel, and we always stayed in the "end" room, near the putt-putt and restaurant and bingo. Walked to amusement park. Anyone who can help, would be nice. ThanX

I used to go to White Lake every year, sometimes twice a year. We always rented a house with my family. I went once with a friend and we stayed in the motel. It was just not the same. I used to love the pavilion area, bingo, the gift shop, and the little restaurant where you could get hotdogs and hamburgers. I had forgoten about the water slides. I can remember never getting tired of going on them. I was probably 4, maybe 5 years old the last time I went on them before they took them down. I had no idea that there were slides close by now. I will have to check it out. Maybe we can go on another family vacation there.

Kenny, I have gone there every year for the past 35 years and I know the water slides you are talking about. They have been gone for a very long time, but 3 years ago they built a big modern water park that you have to drive to. The name of the main street is White Lake Dr. and it is of Route 701.

Michele, it sounds like Goldston Motel is what you're talking about, although there are no water slides there...Otherwise nothing has changed there for years. It looks just like it has forever.
In the picture below, there is an arcade just past the office to the left of this building. The motel is right off the main street. I have a black and white postcard somewhere from the 1960s. The only difference is the cars...

Please help. I haven't been to white lake since I was a kid, over 20 years ago. I now live in California, and will be taking my family there for the first time. I'm trying to find a hotel near the area where I use to go as a kid. I don't know the street name, but it was near a little arcade where there were fair rides, and when you turned into the area from the main street there were two water slides My email is happyendingsmail@yahoo.com
thanks,
michele
