End of Farrington Hwy, Yokohama Bay

This is the end of the paved Farrington Highway on the Leeward Coast. A deeply rutted trail hugs the mountains and curves around Kaena Point to the left.
Hiking is only for the most experienced and cars left unattended for long are an open invitation for theft and vandalism.
Many years ago a railroad line ran thru this area around Kaena Point to the North Shore communities.
An Armed Forces satellite tracking dome can be seen atop the hills.
This area is known as Yokohama Bay and is well known for catching "moi" the Hawaiian threadfish, a local delicacy once reserved for the Hawaiian Alii.
