Waikoloa sunset

The sun sets over the Royal fishponds at Waikoloa (Ku'ulali'i and Kahapapa).

The scene always reminds of Hoagy Carmichael's "Stardust Melody"

And now the purple dust of twilight time,
steals across the meadows of my heart.
High up in the sky the little stars climb
always reminding me that we're apart.
You wander down the lane and far away,
leaving me a song that will not die.
Love is now the stardust of yesterday,
the music of the years gone by...

Some of my favorite sunset photos are after the sun goes down. http://www.pbase.com/cannondaledave/image/102360980

This image has a serendipitous story behind it. It was just about sunset on the Kona side of the Big Island when we checked into the hotel and I rushed thru check-in to try and get a picture of the postcard sunset. Unfortunately I was too late for the setting sun. I decided to wander out onto the beach to console myself.

I looked towards the ocean noted the colors of the dusk and the incredible silhouettes it provided. What you see is a moment frozen in time that would not have been captured had I not missed the sunset.

Thanks for stopping by.
Aloha

Beautiful silhouettes Selvin. The lack of color in the foreground brings out the sky. But looking at your magnificent images in the gallery makes me wonder: HOW many different cameras do you own?
