BC Sprint Championships - Relay, Free Technique, Overlander Cross Country Ski Club, Kamloops, BC
The BC Sprint Championships is held each year to determine the best cross country ski sprinters in the province. Cross country sprints are on a short course to a maximum of 1,500 metres. The race pictured here is the team sprint, free technique. Clubs submit 2 person teams. Each person on the team skis two laps of the course. After a sprint start the first skier skis a lap and hands off to the second by touching the trunk of the body. The second skier completes a lap and hands off to the first who skis a lap and hands off to the second who skis a lap and crosses the finish line.
