We left the car at home and went north by train. No driving or parking for 17 days at city centre hotels in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The tower on the right is the Nelson Memorial. It has a ball on the flagpole that is lowered at 13:00hr each day at the sound of the field gun being fired from Edinburgh Castle. In times gone by, the ships in Leith harbour, set their chronometers at the dropping of the ball!
