Swan going Full Astern

We had a pleasant Sunday afternoon walk along the Grand Union Canal between Hemel Hempstead and Apsley Basin.
There were many swans along the way including this one in a lock. It was not until it tried to take off that I realised the lock was too short and the bird was trapped.
I opened the bottom gate and it swam out giving me a slight smile.

What a nice thing you did! Looks to me like the swan had about had enough and was ready for take off!!

LOL @ Linda's Superman reference! And I echo Ray's BRAVO to you for the Swan's sanity. You just KNOW he would have tried over & over again . How wonderful to have saved his white feathery butt!

As the photo does not show the size of the lock, its actually very comical pupporting to show a rather 'thick' swan. But your caption tells all, including what a gentleman you were on this occassion.
