7th October 2003

Chew Valley Lake, Somerset.

I know this is a poor photo being burnt out, but I was pleased to have caught the gulls and the piece of bread that that they were after. Praise is due to Adrienne for firing a salvo of bread at the correct time.

Wow, they look like they're going to fly right into you. Awesome action shot!

Very nice capture, Chris! I have to work on some action shots - I'm pathetic with them! :)

Even though this is a little burnt out, its a fine action shot!. One of the greatest things about digital is giving us the confidence to try things we possibly wouldn't have tried with film or slide!

This is a lay-by at the side of a road with a pipe through so that 95% of the lake is one side, 5% the other(dry with bull rushes through lack of rain). The water is 10ft lower than us down a 15ft slope.

Many ducks came up the slope to our feet which made the gulls stay airborn. We returned on Friday but the ducks had been fed so the gulls fed off the slope lower down and would not fly close to us.

Well, Chris, this is very different. Was it taken from high up on a bridge? If I'd taken this pic, I'd (a) be very pleased and (b)be spurred on to take a few more to get an even better one. Must have been quite difficult to capture, and hats off to you for achieveing this~~~Ray.
