nice picture and interesting to show people how it looks like. There should be a soundfile linked to the pictures, so, one could hear the noise too. We can pass over the smell, hahaha. A 2-6-4T is a loco that has 2 wheels (1 each side) on the front turning guide plattform, 6 driving wheels powered by the steam machine and linked together by the connecting rods of the pistons (3 on each side) and 4 tender carying wheels. the T stands for Tender attached to the machine as a non-removable unit and thus not turning.
All steam machines in their size are catalogued in this way. The bigger European 4-8-4's are a real nice thing to observe in action and to drive for sure. A shot with a view further away giving more details of the complete enginery would be nice Chris.

Another tremendous image, Chris! Very industrial feel, PERFECT lighting, great focus - love all thos complementary colors, highlights and shadows. Remarkable! =:) Can't wait to see more of this train, if you have 'em!
I like taking these shots. 2-6-4T The T stands for "Tank" so the loco has no tender. I don't know if you have them over there. There are tanks either side of the boiler for water and a bunker at the rear for the coal.
I will be putting up a Holiday Gallery ASAP

Beautiful shot Chris .. love these locomotive pics. A 2-6-4 is a decent size steam engine. Did you get any full shots .. with his tender? I'd love to see them.
