The building was the Royal Devonshire Hospital.

Suspended under the dome (built in 1882) is a Foucault's pendulum. One is not allowed to photograph inside the building in case one captures the image of a student!
When standing by the pendulum the dome provides an amazingly loud echo.

No photography inside, next none outside, then image reproducers will be banned totally. As a young man I really expected to see the world become a better place as I grew older. Oh boy was I wrong.
