I am Canadian

A a homeless man sits in front of the destroyed windows of the Hudson Bay store in downtown Vancouver, BC Canada after the recent Stanley Cup Game and subsequent riot. Thousands have already come and expressed their sentiments on the boarded windows.
I am angry, sad and embarrassed but not totally surprised it happened.

very well captured.when you will be old you will know that each person follow a way...A day I saw a such man ,we found hi often near the road, searching to see in the cars...His wife and children was dead in a crash ,since he refused all help of association and waiting all days to find again his family.
If you speak with a such person in the street you can find one another story ,different, but tragic as you can not easily imagine it.

Gives one a mix of emotion seeing this.I was so glad to see the response the next day of ordinary law abiding citizens.I also watched on the news a 17 yr. old male athlete caught setting the police car on fire, crying and saying how sorry he was.I have very little compassion for these individuals who had no problem joining in on the destruction and looting and who have now been caught on camera.Make them pay all the damages they caused.
This fellow's look is haunting.

Life is not always easy and not for all of us. This is a genial piece of documentary photography, thought provoking and meaningful. V

Great documentary work with this strong image. The eye contact is haunting and hard to look at. Though much negative occurred, there was also positive that came from this, and the messages on this wall and the solidarity of the residents of your town in face of this riot gives proof that the few with malice and destructiveness will never preserver over those with good in their hearts. Blessings to you and your city! "V"

so stunning. It is indeed disturbing when masses of non-thinkers congregate and do senseless acts. V

I applaud your image depicted here but it tells a piece of the story of the true nature of the people of Vancouver. The morning after the riots, hundreds of Vancouverites arrieved to help clean up the broken glass and mess left behind by the hooligans. These plywood panels were almost immediately covered with notes from Vancouverites expressing: their appreciation for their hockey team and what the team accomplished this season, their love of the Cit of Vancouver, and their condemnation of the irresponsible hooligans that destroyed the downtown and the reputation of the good people of Vancouver. There was a police car parked outside as well. Someone decided to leave a postit note on the window to thank the police for their efforts. Within minutes the car was completely covered with thank you notes.

This is both extremely sad and quite astonishing at the same time. I did not know the riots happened until seeing this image and looking it up on line. Despite all of that, this is a phenomenal image Carol on every level. Great photojournalism, great human interest and connection, very artistic. ~BV~

an unsettling expression on his face...he could do with some of the goodwill expressed on this impromptu memorial..V

Geographical location matters not a whit. Rock bottom even for a short while brings that look in the eyes...BV!"!
