Pseudemys rubiventris

The Eastern Red-bellied Turtle, also known as the Northern Red-bellied Cooter,
is registered as a threatened specie in the state of Pennsylvania and is strictly
protected by state law and the Pennsylvania Fish and Game Commission.
They are also listed as endangered by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Silver Lake Nature Center is home to one of the very few remaining colonies of Eastern Red Bellied Turtles in the state of Pennsylvania.
