Xi Tang (West Pond), Zhe Jiang Province, is a small town more than 500 years old. It is only one hour train ride plus 30 minute bus ride from Shanghai. The houses built along a small river running through the town have been preserved, with a lifestyle that is quickly disappearing in China. Several Chinese TV show were shot there and it became a tourist attraction. I visited this quiet little town in 2004, before the big Hollywood blockbuster "Mission Impossible III" also used it as a movie set. Seeing Tom Cruise running through the street where I once took a nice evening stroll brought up a funny feeling.
