I was going to take a short visit to this park in the morning, as I learned that the canyon would be in the shade most of the day, and the rocks of volcanic origin are hard to photograph, and I was going to head to NM in the afternoon. I ended up hiking all day in the park, as the rock formations were very interesting to see up close, even though I could not photograph them well.
