Reflections can be so much more than just mirror-like reproductions of reality. For me, they offer surprising abstractions that prompt a new perspective or deeper look. In our daily life, we often ignore reflections as annoying distractions. Lakes, rivers, puddles, polished surfaced of metal, stone and glass: all offer infinite canvases for bending and blending light, color and form.

Reflections have always fascinated me as a photographer; some of my earliest favorite images were reflections. As I gathered images for this exhibition, I recognized this common thread in all my work no matter whether it comes from the world’s farthest reaches or right here at home. I seek out the serendipity in reflections and explore this abstract world hidden in plain sight. I hope this show causes you to notice the beauty hidden in reflections.
