Bat.1000.JPG

Just before the little bat breaks free. All this makes me very nervous since it's 11am and we've had reports of rabid bats in N.C.

I like bats and have had a bat house up next to my pond for about 7 years.
To date have had no bats decide it was to their liking. Go figure.
Thanks for your comments.

GO TO statewildlife.nwf.org/nc/northcarolinabats.htm FOR MORE INFO. I USED TO BE "SCARED" OF BATS, NOW WE KEEP BAT HOUSES NEAR OUR HORSE BARN. THE LITTLE GUYS ARE ACTUALLY CUTE AND DON'T BOTHER US OR OUR HORSES. WE NEVER SEE MOSQUITOES NOR FLIES!! OF COURSE OUR HORSES HAVE RABIES VACCINES DUE TO THE FACT WE HAVE RACCOONS AND FOXES NEARBY. I LOVE 'EM!

BATS ARE VERY BENEFICIAL. LESS THAN 5% OF BATS ARE RABID. YOU ARE MORE LIKELY TO ENCOUNTER A RABID FOX OR RACCOON EVEN DOG OR CAT THAN A RABID BAT.
