This is an alley in a neighborhood a couple miles northeast of the forbidden city. I would leave my hotel an just walk with my camera. I would look for alleys that seemed to have some activity and light to shoot in, but never felt like I was in danger even in the darkest of streets. Residents just looked at me like I was a nice alien. I was obviously out of place, but there were never mean looks... just quizical.

What a great adventure these walks were.
