Iona has beauty and grace that is classical. This is what caught my interest when I first saw her photos. She reminds me of the figure drawings I have in my grandmothers art portfolio from the early 1920's. For me, this is very special. I'm very pleased that Iona came to San Diego to introduce herself and model for me. I hope we can continue more work together in the future.

Great shots! Iona already is naturally beautiful, but your photography brings out even more of her splendor, especially the B&W shots. And I think Iona would be just as terrific as a fashion model.

Superb !!! B & W's are great !!!! she is got a charm.... a natural poser.... photographer's delight..... I know as i am myself a photgrapher and admirer of nude art....

Bitt nailed it, the more abstract poses are great in bw, but the facial poses with red lips and eyes are more powerful in color. Also I think the backgrounds you choose help to keep the color shots in balance. Thanks for sharing these....

I do like the bw and also the colour. Actually, I generally would prefer the bw but your colour shots really add richness and depth withoiut distracting frem the artistic composition. It just depends upon the individual shot, the cropped ones are best in bw I'd say, and the recomposition with the dof and blurring- better in colour....

I like the B&W versions more for their symbolic and artistic feel...she is beautiful and flexible

While B&W improves some compositions & poses, I prefer what the TV network used to refer to as "living color". I just dated myself!

I don't have any preference between either your B&W shots or your colour shots. Both variations stand out on their own in terms of shadow, contrast, etc.
Although B&W does give the feeling of being more "arty", the colour versions also give a warm friendly feel to them.
I hope you continue to shoot in both mediums.

Rodney, my response might be similar to your other post under Olia - I try to edit for the "average" monitor out there. This varies widely. Where this set might look good to you, you said the Olia photo looked over processed and over sharpened.http://www.pbase.com/image/57191615 On my monitor they both look crisp and clear, with good contrast and color. Let's see what others have to say.

On these of Iona, there is a different surface of a pleated soft dark olive color. It's very subtle, but it should show differently than the black background. Some monitors can not distinquish this different surface.

The biggest answer, however, is to really concentrate hard on seeing and creating the very richest quality of light we can. Lighting is everything. Slight adjustments of many factors make big differences. It's not automatic or by accident, but by careful observation and planning. Indeed, lighting is everything. I can't emphasize that enough.
