I visited SoCal seven years ago. And I saw the water bombers based at Ramona Airport.
Looks like they were well placed.

Dan, it could easily be so.

I have not watched the fires in Los Angeles or Orange county at all. I think I'll confine my photo gallery to our home territory in the San Diego area.

Since Califonia is designed by nature to burn on a regular basis, these images can go on forever. Burning hills and brush fires in Southern California go back for me as far as my memory.

Two things you can depend upon in California: Fire Season and Earthquake Season ;-)

I remember personal experience with the 1968 floods, too A neighbor came down the street in his boat. Everything that was about knee deep in my fathers shop that could float, was floating. I remember the waste basket skiing out the front when I opened the door.

And just imagine ... all of this was WAY before anyone was striking fear into our hearts about Global Warming. In those days the fear mongering was about The Population Bomb and Nuclear Winter, etc.

I heard 1600 mentioned somewhere but that could be with
Orange County & LA included.
