The Bitter End

Upstairs Lounge

In the vocabulary of seamen, the "Bitter End" means the anchor rope has been fully paid out to it's limit.

Anchor ropes and cables are tied to bitts.
These wooden or iron posts sticking through a ship's deck are called bitters.
The last of the line secured to these bitts is known as the Bitter End.

Didn't we go up here on our Old Town walk around? I now own a camera that would be able to shoot here with just window light.

i like very much the light here, and the balance between the 'rusty' colors and the green of the plant... seems that there's a metaphor of dead and life in this composition.

Interesting shot and now I know all about bitters. Wish the exif data was here to see how far out (ASA) you had to go to get the shot.
