Hi Patrick. No flash. Flash would have killed this photo. It's low natural light, open shade, with light quality carefully selected for warmth of color against a dark background. I put a lot of effort into finding rich natrual light. It's everywhere around us, but most people see what they think they see, ... not what actually exists. Introduce exposure control and you will discover with your camera more concentrated results than we typically see with our eyes. My lens was a 17-40 L, shot on the wide end, probably F5.6-8. IMHO, lighting is everything. Touched up? The contrast and brightness is the way I shot it. This is at the heart of my point about choosing light. I did not change white balance. I never take WB off auto and I always shoot JPG. Alana is naturally beautiful. Her eyes are natural.

What type of flash and lense (I would guess 50mm 1.x) use?
Is this picture touched up at all - other than contrast/brightness/wb?
