As a housekeeper at a hotel where many Japanese stay, my mother brings home the weirdest things sometimes that guests leave behind. Case in point: this pile of multi-clothespin hanging thingies (lord knows what the correct term for them are), that you can use to hang socks or other small laundry to dry in a relatively compact space. First of all, why do people bring over these things? Second, why bring SEVERAL? Granted I don't know if ALL of these were left in just one room or spread out over multiple rooms. In either case, it prompts some wondering. I wonder if it's a Japanese thing to launder one's socks and underwear in one's hotel room and subsequently hang them to dry.
