Ricketts Glen Natural Area

NOTE: This gallery is under daily reconstruction as time allows for imaging of the Glen area before the season is over and as images are ready for showing or being removed. It should be finsihed in roughly two weeks. During that time it will undergo extensive editing, with the addition and removal of selected images. Thanks for coming by.

Ricketts Glen is part of the Pennsylvania State Parks system. The Glens Natural Area where the 21 waterfalls are located is a registered National Natural Landmark since October 12, 1967. It is the main scenic attraction of the park. I hope that as this gallery grows you will get a sense of the beauty of this part of Pennsylvania and the Glen in particular.

This gallery will also contain some experimental HDR (High Dynamic Range) images to determine the capabilites of this type of treatment for digital imaging in the natural environment.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: The order of the images in this gallery is the order in which you will see these falls and rapids as you ascend the Falls Trail. Adams Falls which is on the Evergreen Trail at the base Falls Trail will be the first fall seen simply because it needs a home. So Just look at the images and they will appear in the order that you see them on the hike...think of it as a virtual tour of Ricketts Glen. Enjoy, and leave comments and thoughts if you wish. Absolutely exceptional photography. The day I was at Ricketts Glen it was a fairly steady rain and seemed rather dangerous. I did a short hike, but left disappointed, and have never been back in the area. Your photos helped me remember just how lovely the park is...certainly one of the most beautiful in the Eastern U.S.

Waterfalls, waterfalls, waterfalls. I have always been drawn to any water, and in particular waterfalls, so how could I not love this gallery. Superb photos of a beautiful area, well worth a big VOTE!
