The Sports Club of Tampa Bay held its 47th Annual Banquet at Higgins Hall on Friday, February 22, 2008. Approximately 700 people attended the Banquet that honors local amateur and professional athletes in the Tampa Bay area. This years Hall of Fame selections were Tino Martinez, Dave Andreychuk, Jim Courier and Freddie Lee Dyles. Professional Athlete awards were given to Jeff Garcia, Carlos Pena, Vinny Lecavalier, and Derrick Brooks. Amatuer Awards went to Cleveland Jennings, Jeanette Dyer, Doug Alpin, Kellie Catanach, Sean Joyce, George Selvie, Shannon Atkins, the University of Tampa Soccer and Baseball Team, and Plant HS Volleyball Team.
