Firstly, the attire you see in many of the photos in this gallery (Udaipur) are usually only worn during weddings or special events. The attire you see in this photo "Laundry" is typical of the lower class in this particular city. For the most part, however, the typical brightness "and" color of the clothing varies normally with what part of the country you are in - For example, the northern state of Punjab has a lot of earthly tones
in the form of dresses called salwar kameez (suits) and the western state of Rajasthan has mostly very bright oranges and yellows in the form of sarees.

Also, you'll notice that a lot of the middle to upper classes wear western style clothing in various places too..... My friends there wear nothing *BUT* western style clothing - they never dress in traditional clothing unless there's a function... hope this answers your question! :-)

I was curious about how colorful everyday clothes are as compared to dress-up clothing. Is this typical? Duller clothing with an accent color?
