Edinburgh is a city full of history. You can hardly look down a street without seeing an example of architecture from back in the day... WAY back in the day.
We proceeded up the Royal Mile to the Castle, touring it inside and out.
Walking back down the Royal Mile, we noticed several musical groups (mostly bagpipe bands) and folks in traditional costume, who seemed to be getting ready for something. We'd stumbled upon the first ever Tartan Parade. Soon a group of what appeared to be government officials appeared, a speech was presented by... was he the mayor or something? And precisely at 1:00, marked by the daily cannon salute from the castle, the parade began
As the parade wound down, we visited St. Giles Church, then bumped into Sherlock Holmes on the way back to the hotel
Later in the afternoon we toured the Royal Yacht Britannia, now retired and a popular tourist attraction.
