The dogs have always found interesting scents in our lawn, not to mention various types of animal droppings to try to taste test... So I left my son's game cam out in the yard for a few days.

We'd heard the coyotes in the woods at night many times, but had no idea they were this bold, visiting very shortly after dark, and through the night. For size reference, I left a basketball in view.

The daylight photos show the reason for our concern. My dog, plus her buddies who visit when my daughter is away, are snack sized for the coyotes. They will no longer be let out unescorted to take care of business in the evening. And its a surprise that so many of the neighborhood turkeys survived...
