On June 26, 2012 at 09:51 hrs. the Old Bridge Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to 5 Packard Rd on a reported flooding condition and possible electrical fire. Upon arrival the fire department found the basement filled with approximately two feet of water. Further investigation disclosed that there was a fire in the laundry area and the heat caused a plastic water feed line to the refrigerator to rupture. This caused water to spray out and extinguish the fire and flood the basement. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the EBFD#1 Bureau of Fire Prevention. The East Brunswick Police, Water Utility and electrical inspector also responded to the scene.
