This is the biggest collection of shots. While the joust is choreographed it is not without danger and pain. The "actors" have suffered numerous injuries. There is a story line: After the royal precession enters the royal box, the Marshall and also judge, Lady Victoria Avondale tells the crowd what will happen. She then introduces the two knights who will participate. First is a young knight fighting his first joust. He is Sir Daniel Reinhart and his nobility is lauded. Then she introduces the "black knight" known as Judas the unforgiven. As with TV wrestling he is the heavy bad guy. First there is a test of skills. The first involves beheading a cabbage. Sir Daniel does it well and when Judas misses he claims to have been clipping a fly from the top! One point to Sir Daniel. Next is the ring toss to be caught on the lance. Sir Daniel just ticks the ring but misses. Judas is very adept at this as the shot sequence shows. One point all. Next comes the real joust. On the first pass both parry off the opponents lance with their shield. On the next pass Judas scores a clear hit as you can see. The lance slid off Sir Daniel's shield and hit him squarely in the chest! (At only three frames per second I didn't catch the full hit.) Sir Daniel is shaken but remains on his horse until he slides off with assistance and appears to pass out. Since Judas did not "un-horse" him Judas receives only one point. Score: Daniel 1, Judas 2. Next comes the sword fight where Daniel bests Judas. As Daniel waits for surrender, Judas throws dirt in Daniel's face mask and then with the help of a page renders him "unconscious". Lady Victoria said this was the most scurrilous behaviour she had ever witnessed and disqualifies him awarding the sword fight to Sir Daniel. Score: Sir Daniel 2, Judas 2. She commends Sir Daniel for his behaviour (after he wakes up) and has a lady of the court reward him with a kiss. Judas protests but the says the match is a draw. They will fight again in 2 hours (which amazingly was already on the schedule). Great fun to watch. I hope you enjoy the shots.
