In 2000 schonk de Japan Women’s Club (JWC) 400 kersenbomen (Sakura) aan Amstelveen. Iedere boom heeft een naam: 200 bomen hebben een Japanse vrouwennaam, 200 bomen hebben een Nederlandse vrouwennaam.
