Where?

kakadu NT

There is a Frill-necked Lizard in this photograph.....have a good look and see if you can see it.
Frill-necked lizards are mainly seen during the Top End wet season between October and April. At this time of the year they spend quite a lot of time on the ground foraging for insects and are commonly seen on the road sides, particularly early morning, late afternoon and before and after rain.
You can actually find Frillies all year if you know where to look for them. During the dry season they spend most of their time up in the trees as there is little food on the ground once the grass dries out and the insects disappear. If you keep a careful eye out whilst you are driving, watching trees with a fairly small diameter about 1.5 to 3m above ground level there is a good chance you will see them. Takes a bit of practice.....but once you get your eyes in you will see them at 100km an hour and sometimes more than 50m off the road.......the challenge then is going back and trying to find which tree you saw them on.
