Right now there are mostly images of the red fox family that we photographed in our backyard from our bedroom windows over a period of 3 weeks in July. Usually only 1 or 2 kits or mom and 1 kit would be out between 5:30 - 6:45 a.m. but one Sunday, a week before they stopped coming, the entire family of 5 came out around 5:30 - 3 kits and mom and dad - and chased each other, licked each other, and played around for about 20 minutes. Couldn't, unfortunately, get photos of all of them -- too dark and not enough shutter speed - but got a few images that I haven't posted here. Also took close images of goldfinch near my feeder while I waited for the fox to appear. The fox live in a den behind the backyard. The backyard drops down into the woods and the "cliff" has large rocks that serve well as caves/dens for fox and other animals. The fox kits were already fairly big by the time we discovered them in the yard. Wish we'd seen them sooner but we were away in Provence! I will be downloading other summer images of goldfinch, turkeys from the backyard that come daily, dragonflies on flowers, and shorebirds from Plum Island when I get more time!
