Well, my fingers are still not quite flexible enough to comfortably handle all the camera controls, but they are fine for using the mouse. I am therefore taking the opportunity to try and catch up on post-processing all the shots I took last year, as I have just realised that the first events I want to shoot THIS year are getting close.
I am working on some shots I took at Chester Zoo, last october, and have uploaded some update shots to my Orang Utan gallery. Unfortunately the weather was quite cold that day and the babies were staying indoors, where they can be seen but photography is difficult, due to a fine mesh over the viewing window. So no more cute baby pics to add to my earlier ones, I'm afraid.
As I haven't got anything fresh taken today, I am using one of these Orang shots for my PaD. I picked this shot because the Orang is clearly trying to do an impression of the late, great Les Dawson. I can't look at this shot without seeing Les in one of his 'gossiping old woman' sketches :-) The expression and the way he is holding his hands are just right for the Les Dawson look. (Apologies to non-Brits who probably haven't heard of Les Dawson.)
The thumbnail below, shows a wonderfully touching scene between a mother and one of her older children. The youngster had been chasing around and had hurt his thumb so, like children everywhere, he went to his mother for comfort. She sat him down, put her hand on his arm to comfort him and talked to him and kissed his thumb better. After a few minutes, having been told to calm down and play nicely with the other youngsters, he got up and continued to play, in a much calmer manner. I shot a couple more shots of this exchange of affection and the other two can also be seen in my Orang gallery, just click on the thumbnail to go there.
(The current problems, with linking in PBase, mean that the thumb image doesn't always show. If you get a 'red X' clicking on it will still take you to the original full size image.)
