This is the last of my Peak District PaDs and I am nearly up to date again. This day was the trickiest to get a shot, the weather being unco-operative. My first plan was to visit Castleton and hike up the hill to Peveril Castle and do some shots for black & white work. Nice idea, but the castle was closed, despite signs giving the opening times at this time of year telling me it should be open. The locked gate is at the bottom of the hill, so I can't get any good shots. I took a few shots around Castleton itself but nothing I could make a PaD from. Plan B was to go and visit one of the Caverns that scatter this area, again some were closed but I ended up at the Blue John mines which was open. Sadly, they don't do a tour for just ONE person, but if I hang on until someone else turns up, we can go down. The weather was getting worse and nobody turned up, despite two tours having gone down, just before I got there! By now, the other caverns were starting to close for the day. Plan C, GO HOME!! En route I shot a few pics of the rain on the hills, of these this was my favourite and so here it is.
These 3 shots I have posted (click previous to see the others), show just how varied the weather can be in the Peak District with sun, ice & rain.
