This beautiful old 'fairytale' castle is one of the older ones in the Moselle region. It's origins are a little vague, it is generally believed to have been built under Count Palatinate Ezzo around 1020 but may have been started by his father in the late 900s.
Unfortunately, the whistle stop nature of a package tour meant that I had to choose between climbing to the castle, or photographing the town. I chose to shoot the town (the shots can be found in my gallery "Germany's Moselle Valley") and make do with a simple exterior shot of the castle, shot from the town.
There was a lot of aerial haze to deal with on this shot (the castle was actually quite a distance away), so I have had to 'force' the image contrast and colours quite a bit, to bring it out of the haze. Hopefully the end result hasn't suffered too badly.
Comments are always welcome. Thanks.
