Save the Red Squirrel

BOTANICAL GARDENS, SOUTHPORT

There is a campaign at the moment to save the red squirrel, which is in retreat from the grey squirrel. The greys carry a virus which they have immunity from, but which the reds do not and die from exposure to it. I live in one of the most important red squirrel areas, there is a squirrel reserve a few miles from my house with a good sized population. Unfortunately the greys have started to move in to the area and the campaign is to spread awareness of the problem and the need to trap and remove the greys.

This particular red squirrel was handing out information leaflets and these girls were sneaking up on her and pulling her tail at every opportunity.

Gosh, if all the red Squirrels are that large, won't saving them all be a chore? ;-)
